ABOUT SNMC

Sahyadri Nisarga Mitra is one of the leading NGOs in Maharashtra. It came into existence in the year 1992 and since then, it has put in gruelling endeavour to conserve, educate natives, spread awareness and promote nature tourism, especially in the naturally sensitive districts of Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg of Maharashtra. The annual turtle festival maharashtra which the NGO began in 2006 inclusively involving the native villagers has brought prosperity to the villagers along with conservation of nature, a rare achievement. Furthermore, SNMC has made conscious efforts for the welfare of birds in the region, most prominently being Vulture Conservation joint initiative with global bodies.
